What is DMAT?

What is DMAT? DMAT stands for

  

Disaster Medical Assistance Team which means a medical team who gives assistance to the victims in the affected area. DMAT team in each country is named differently including a number of team members and structure. In Thailand, National Institute for Emergency Medicine values the importance of various resources such as medical personnel, volunteer teams, equipment. As a result, the DMAT is established to unite medical operators whose tasks are to assist and recuperate the victims both physically and emotionally. The DMAT training course is being held at the THAI FIRE & RESCUE Training Academy (TFRTA) Lopburi, Thailand. A lot of medical personnel and rescue volunteer both from government agency and private sector to attend this training.  

Mr. Anucha Setthasathien, the Secretary General of the National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEMS) stated that this training’s goal is to develop personnel and medical staffs, equipment and also create a networking to advance a comprehensive and effective disaster response system.
